Overview:
In the summer of 1993 a man named Mr Fox decided to go for a walk to the stones. They had reached one of the many rocky outcrops about half a mile into the expanse of green belt land, when Mr Fox decided to go on ahead and climb to the top of a small crag. As he was walking in between two columns of rock, he felt curiously uneasy, as though he was being watched. Undeterred, he found a foothold and began to climb the rock face. He reached the top and was Astonished to see a huge black dog, something like a rottweiler but much larger (in fact Mr Fox noted that it was the largest dog he had ever seen), approximately ten feet away from him. The dog stood motionless and stared, growling. Mr Fox remembers feeling as though he was not witnessing an "earthly" event, and described a sudden chill coming over him.
The Investigation:
Upon arriving at the location, it was a mild and calm night, we started by getting ourselves familiar with the area before settling down to conduct the vigil.
The main area we were concentrating on was the rock face where Mr Fox had witnessed the incident back in 1993.
We started the first vigil at the Rock face itself, where Mr Fox saw the dog. Not much happened during the time we were there, but as Joe was about to finish the conclusion on video, when the team heard what they describe has something large moving through the undergrowth at the foot of the rocks.
At first thinking this was someone walking they called out to see if there was anyone there, but no reply was received back. Mike and Wez went down the rock face to investigate further, but there was no sign of anyone there.
Conclusion:
The Rotherham-ghosts team left the area around 0100 hours a little confused with their results of the evening. After reviewing the video footage at a later date unfortunately the noise could not be heard due to the noise coming from the traffic off the nearby A57. The team agreed that the place was quite eerie and agreed that they would return to the area again in the future to try and solve the mystery of the demonic dog and their own experience of the strange movement in the undergrowth.

This reported sighting was left on Rotherham-ghosts guest book, where figures from another era are seen on a regular basis. Just under the railway bridge on the right hand side.
The Investigation:
Upon arriving at the location, it was a very cold and windy night, we started by getting ourselves familiar with the area before settling down to conduct the vigil.
The main areas we were concentrating on were the railway bridge and the waste land on the right hand side just under the railway bridge, coming from Swinton. With the main areas being very close to each other, we decided to park up and wonder around between the 2 locations throughout the whole investigation.
We were having problems with the sound on our videos cameras due to the bad weather, so the majority of the time the cameras weren’t rolling, however, just before we began to film a whistling noise could be heard coming from the deserted waste land. Which did sound human, but we had to dismiss this due to such bad weather. During another the break in the filming Mike felt a bang on his arm and what looked like something moving around the fence area, so a photo was taken with a digital camera by Joe and a mist was caught. We found this quite strange because of the high winds.
Conclusion:
The Rotherham-ghosts team left the area around 2130 hours, having experienced some strange occurrences down there, unfortunately due to the wind, most of the noises we experienced had to be dismissed, but I must say it is a very spooky place down there.
Since the investigation more people have been in touch with Rotherham-ghosts to say that they have also experienced some strange happenings down there too.
Rotherham-ghosts do intend of visiting the area again once the weather is a little better.

Please note that due to high winds the sound quality is lost in places.

Hoober Stand is a personal favourite of Rotherham-ghosts and is realy what started this site going, this is the place where the shape of a person was captured on film stood at the window half way up the building by the webmaster Richard and his daughter one cold night in 2003. (See picture above) The Tower dates back to the 19th century and many stories surround this area including the sighting of a child who is said to wander the woodland area surrounding it. Even to this day many people have reported that witchcraft is taken place quite regular.
The Investigation:
Upon arriving at the location, it was a very cold clear but breezy night, we started by getting ourselves familiar with the area before settling down to conduct the vigil.
The main areas we were concentrating on were the doorway to the tower, the first window on the right hand side of the building and the woodland area surrounding it.
While conducting the vigil at the doorway of the tower, Richard was calling out, when a strange bang seemed to come from inside of the tower, he asked for the noise to repeat itself but no further bangs came from within the building.
A further vigil around the doorway resulted in a strange noise coming from behind the cameraman Wez, again we asked for the noise to repeat but it didn’t. Not long after this voices could be heard which we were unable to hear clearly, but we had to dismiss this due to there being a slight wind and the noises being carried by that from nearby.
Conclusion:
The Rotherham-ghosts team left the area around 02:30 hours very cold and a little disappointed with their results of the evening, however, this will still be one of Richards favourite places and I’m sure we’ll be back to try again.
